Middle School Technology Club. This year we have 17 members. So far this year, students have explored Sphero bots, Lego robotics, and Hour of Code. 

Miss O'Connor's Maine Fish and Wildlife class trip to the Maine Wildlife Park! Students went around and took notes on various species in preparation from learning more about them throughout the semester. 

Our BGT staff has been busy! Fall meeting, state inspection of buses, moving storage containers and being awarded at the annual bus training.

During the workshop day on October 10, DES staff spent one hour on self care.

Sarah B, Kate O, Dave B and I all attended the "Space Rocks" Teacher Education night at the Maine Gem and MIneral Museum in Bethel.  It was EXCELLENT PD where we learned so much about meteorites and the history of mining gems in Maine.  Highly recommend!

Kate and I attended PD on the top of Mt Washington with our Western Maine Connected Learning Ecosystem.  We got a behind the scenes tour of the Mount Washington Weather Observatory, including a trip to the top of the observation tower.  We learned all about the science behind data collection related to weather and both of us left the PD inspired and more prepared to share this learning with our students.

The Dirigo Outing Club hiked Puzzle Mountain in Newry on 10/18.  We hiked a total of 6.6 miles and were on the summit of a 3,133' mountain!  It was a gorgeous day, and Gretchen Curtis was my lovely co-chaperone (thank you Gretchen!!)

Here are the students who were brave AND let Miss Broomhall take a photo! A popular food for Día de los Muertos (Nov 1 & 2) in Mexico is chapulines, grasshoppers roasted in a variety of chili peppers, lemon & lime juice, salt and garlic.

And the winner was the little cougar with buses. 2nd place went to the Hungry Caterpillar. 3rd Place to Up.
