Personal Finance by Erin Pealatere |
First semester Personal Finance students learned about buying vehicles and car loans for their final graded assignment. They selected a used vehicle from our Quality Teachers Used Car Lot and conducted research online through Kelly Blue Book, compared rates from other sellers. They also emailed the seller and asked detailed questions. Students did a complete walk around their prospective purchase and even conducted a tire tread check with a penny. Many found the cars were priced high but they learned valuable information on how to talk the sellers down in price and what their loan payments would be.

The DMS Nordic Ski team has been skiing its heart out! With eight 5th graders and three new skiers from DMS, the team is 15 skiers strong. Everyone on the team has raced in at least one race and continues to show grit, perseverance, and positivity. We have three more races before Finals in mid-February. Maine West showed incredible financial support for getting kids outside and moving in the winter. With their funds, Coach K purchased 12 brand new pairs of waxless skis with bindings and four pairs of brand new combo ski boots. All gear was purchased from Akers in Andover.

The Dirigo High School Band did an amazing job at the DES Cubtastic Assembly today. We love seeing our former students and hearing their awesome music. Thank you Mr. H for making this happen, I know it would be a lot easier just doing your thing at the high school, but we love it! |
